"I am not technical, but can you explain how it works?"

When you install GroupCalendar™, a piece of software is added to Outlook ®.
This add-in monitors your own calendar and waits for some activity.
When you schedule something in your calendar it makes a note of it in a database and replicates it in a subfolder within your own calendar, or in a shared exchange public folder.
It does this for all users that have the same database in their settings.
All actions performed by users with the GroupCalendar add-in are actioned in  their own Outlook calendar and written to a shared database.
When a user manually synchronizes OR when the autosync tray application runs, all records  in the shared database are translated back to appointments in the GroupCalendar folder of that user.
If you use Exchange server with a public folder manual synchronization  or running the autosync tool is not necessary but, when every user has a private GroupCalendar folder then they will have to perform a manual sync or use the auto sync tool.
If you leave the office with the laptop, it remembers all activity while off-line until you have a connection again.

"I like it but I need / want / wonder why.... "

Send an email to info@opusflow.nl . We love to hear from you! (Even if you just want to tell us that it works great.)

"Your software sends an email why? when? to whom?"

GroupCalendar sends us an email:

  • When it is installed;
  • When a new user uses the database for the first time;
  • When an error occurs.

The email contains the following information:

  • GroupCalendar version;
  • Your email-address;
  • Your Office version and service pack;
  • Your MS Access db engine version (if any);
  • Your DAO version;
  • Your Operating system version and service pack;
  • In case of an error: description of the error.

This information is used only to support in a pro-active way. You might even get a solution to an error before you ask for it. We may inform you of a new version with more functionality. We will never share or sell any information about your email address or software versions with anyone in any way.

How to update to new releases.

  • Download the current (demo) version from the download page ;
  • Shut down Outlook;
  • Press Ctrl-Alt-Del - Taskmanager - Processes. ;
  • Shut down Outlook.exe and Gchelper.exe if you see them in the list;
  • Run the new setup.

For a large number of pc's:

  • Contact us to check if more than the 'Group Calendar.dll' file changed. (that happens not often);
  • Upgrade one pc following the procedure here above;
  • Copy the 'Group Calendar.dll' file out of the program files folder to a server share;
  • Create a batch file to run from the workstions with these lines in it (adjust this to your network);

del "c:\program files\Group Calendar\Group Calendar.dll"
copy "\\server\share\Group Calendar.dll" "c:\program files\Group Calendar\Group Calendar.dll"
regsvr32 "c:\program files\Group Calendar\Group Calendar.dll"

Version 1.6.68 has a large number of new support files so you must run that setup on all pc's.
