List of known GroupCalendar™ error messages and solutions.
Before going to the actual questions you can review these short comments we make repeatedly on most common questions:
- The fact that your mail server / file server or any other server holds the database is not relevant. The database can be on any server or any workstation-acting-as-a-server sharing a folder;
- You CAN create items in the GroupCalendar™ directly. Create a 'general' user for that (manually) in the database table TB_Users. if you install setupukda.exe and create the item in the GroupCalendar™, it will ask you if it is for another user. Select the 'general' user and your item will appear in everyone's GroupCalendar™ without going into anyone's personal calendar;
- Pop mail, imap, smtp, pigeon post or any other protocol is not relevant. GroupCalendar™ works without using any email functionality;
- The database will contain all calendar information of all people;
- The GroupCalendar™ folder in Outlook ® is nothing more than a way of looking at the information in the database. You can throw away everything from the GroupCalendar™-folder. It does not matter. If you press the synchronize button it will re-fill with all appointments of all users;
- You can select any folder in Outlook ® (of type calendar items) to be the GroupCalendar™-folder;
- You can synchronize automatically by enabling the autosync tool in the system tray, or you can synchronize manually with the autosync button;
- You don't have to synchronize to see your own appointment in the GroupCalendar™-folder in Outlook®, synchronization is only used to show you the appointments of other users. If you never synchronize, still other people will see your appointments;
- If you want to uninstall the software start by removing the add-in from Tools - Options - Other - Advanced options - Com add-ins in Outlook ®. Do not start with the uninstaller in the Control panel;
- A 'public folder' in Exchange Server is not 'a mailbox that everyone has access to';
- If your license is full, you can remove any or all usernames from the TB_Users in the database to free up licenses;
- We don't mind you calling or emailing us. And yes, we love to hear your success stories.
